That was an adorable episode and I want to live in the gifs of it forever BUUUUUT it would not be Glee if there weren’t some distinctively terrible narrative problems.

thank you.
Here’s my spin on it all.
While cutesy Klaine is all sorts of fun to a lot of people, I was actually ridiculously uncomfortable through out the whole thing. Some of the lines were hilarious and I love how perfectly Darren and Chris were able to portray the Lucy and Ricky/Judy Garland feel, I still felt like I was watching a completely different show. And not in a good way. It’s like the same feeling you get when someone you know and love starts acting differently because of a new group of friends or a new job etc etc.
Also to add to your conscience in shining armor Sam thing…well his whole story line is confusing the hell out of me to be honest. Finn brings him in to “save the day” in Hold on to Sixteen but he barely does anything! Mike, Tina, and Blaine are the ones who really put it together. Poor Mike and Tina don’t get any of that recognition. Just the Mike’s dad side story. Which was adorable and I loved but still. It just confuses me that Sam’s coming back story line is tied to saving the day and being this good guy who understands all the hardships of the world because he had to become a stripper when his family went broke. (Did I mention how nice their house is for being recently homeless?) He really did absolutely nothing. He didn’t help Quinn (that was all Rachel.) He pushed Blaine over the edge which had the domino effect of bringing Blaine and Finn together but he really didn’t do anything to help them win. They would have been better off bringing him back because they needed and additional person and he wanted Mercedes back then all the other crap they’ve thrown in. I still love Sam btw, I just don’t get why they chose this route for his story line.
Ignoring all of that, the fact that Kurt and Blaine even went along with such a campy joke on a gay relationship for some weird script that Artie suddenly becomes this strange antagonist about again. It just doesn’t make any sense to me. The Kurt and Blaine I know would never choose this path. No matter how much they want a successful future. I think the biggest thing people are missing here is that, yea, to us “the holiday roommates” thing was a joke. But the actual holiday special for all the citizens of Ohio, for the characters, that was legitimately how they were being portrayed. I don’t think that Kurt and Blaine would agree to that portrayal in any circumstance. It just doesn’t fit with them at all.
So overall I liked the episode because it was hilarious. From our point of view the holiday special is funny and ironic. But the characters actions are making very little sense to me. I still love Glee and always will for the awesome times it does bring me. I just wish a lot of things were different. Above all we are being naggy and scrutinize it so much because it is such a good show and we do all love it. Glee rocks far above a lot of other shows despite it’s inconsistencies and I will be forever grateful for what it has given me.
